Essiam Catholic School was established and commissioned on the 26th of January, 1939, to provide education for the children within Breman Essiam township and its surrounding villages. During that time, the pupils, after completing their primary education, had to continue their middle school education in a nearby town called Enyan Denkyira. In 1958, a ‘B’ stream was started due to the large enrollment of pupils in the school, and a middle school was also established to absorb the pupils from the primary section.

In 1996, another stream was created for the middle school but did not last as rainstorms ripped off its roof. The structure was later demolished as it was posing danger to the lives of both the pupils and teachers. In all this, the primary ‘A’ and ‘B’ had its own headteacher likewise the middle school

Before the end of 2007/2008 academic year, a decision was taken and agreed upon by the Regional Catholic Education Unit Manager, Local Manager, and the District Education Directorate to divide the primary and Junior Secondary/High Schools into two streams; ‘A’ stream and ‘B’ stream. Each stream had a Kindergarten (KG), Primary and Junior High School (JHS) under separate administrative heads. This has been the situation of Essiam Catholic Basic Schools to date.

Essiam Catholic Basic ‘B’ School started operating as a full Basic School in 2009. The following have been the administrative heads of the school since 2009.
1. Ms. Gladys Erbynn 2009 to 2013
2. Mr. Patrick Kofi Oduro 2013 to 2015

3. Mr. Albert Asmah 2015 to date
